Chief Manufacturing CoPilot

CoPilot is a complete AV networked solution that is easy and beneficial to installers, administrators, teachers, presenters and students. It was developed using customer feedback to improve on existing industry-standard room AV kits. We’ve taken these ideas and turned them into a complete solution using advanced technology, and high-quality components.

Why CoPilot?

If you’re helping to revamp an existing classroom’s sound system or looking at plans for entirely new classrooms, you always have to keep the end in mind: making sure students have a positive learning experience. A fundamental yet sometimes overlooked requirement is giving students the ability to hear the message from the instructor. After all, if students can’t hear what is being said, they aren’t going to have the opportunity to learn to their full potential.

Audio and Video System

CoPilot includes solutions for both video and audio enhancement. Users can connect up to two computers or document camera, a projector a DVD or VCR and even an iPod. This offers a variety of options for teachers creating lesson plans and for students giving presentations.

The CoPilot kit includes two high performance 5-1/4" (133 mm) speakers that are Plenum rated for the classroom. Users will enjoy clear, high quality sound versus using the speaker that's integrated with a media device. There is room for two additional speakers for a total of four if you wish to upgrade.

Microphones

The CoPilot kit includes a wireless microphone technology for the teacher, and a durable handheld student microphone is also included. Both microphones have lithium ion batteries for long life (about 8 hours of constant use) and recharge quickly with the included AC/DC chargers. The student mic also comes with a recharging stand.

Cables

Surge projection power cords and premium plenum cables are all included with the CoPilot system.

  • VGA micro cables
  • Composite video cables
  • S-video cables
  • 3.5mm cables
  • 3.5mm RCA Y-adapter
  • CAT5e cables
  • Serial RS232 cable
  • 200’ 18 AWG speaker wire

Mounting Solutions

Chief builds some of the strongest and most feature-filled mounts in the business. We offer options with mounts for suspended ceiling projectors, short throw projectors, TVs and other mounted media devices.

Pre-built CoPilot kits include:

  • Universal Projector Mount with Keyed Locking (RPMA) is an elite projector mount packed with easy-to-use adjustment features and security.
  • Suspended Ceiling Kit (CMS440) that provides a host of features that make installing most lightweight front projectors fast and secure.
  • Extension Column (CMS006) to lower projectors to the desired height.

Control System

The control system is made up of several in-wall box panels and an IR remote where you connect and control power, inputs and audio. The LED-lit room control module is installed in the wall and allows easy push-button control of the components in the room.

System Administration

CoPilot comes with free downloadable software for controlling rooms installed with the system. The software runs on a Microsoft® server, while the user interface is web-based and can be accessed from any computer on the network within the building. Through this system, administrators can control individual rooms, groups of rooms or every room.

Connecting a PA system to CoPilot allows announcements to be directed at a single classroom or a group of classrooms. There’s no need to interrupt every class if the message doesn't apply to them, saving valuable time and focus.

Fire protection systems can also be connected to CoPilot and automatically override any audio or video in rooms so the alarm won’t be drowned out by anything going on in the classroom.

Installing CoPilot

CoPilot was engineered for ease of installation, offering flexibility and time-saving features. Components seamlessly integrate into standard wall boxes, while the exclusive features of Chief Mounting Solutions save valuable time on media installation.
